Financial Assistance is available for students whose families are unable to pay the full tuition and fees. Applications for financial assistance for the 2016-17 school year are due by April 18, 2016. Applications are to be submitted online through the FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment website. Upon receiving a completed application for financial assistance, the Financial Assistance Committee will review the application and determine the amount of assistance the school will be able to offer.
The amount of granted aid is to be worked at the rate of $20/hour through the work study program called "PATHS" (Parents and Teachers Helping Students). Parents will be billed quarterly for hours not worked for each quarter. All tuition accounts must be paid to date two weeks before semester exams. The PATHS program is a program through which our girls and their parents work at school for any event for which we need help and for which we would have to pay for help, if they did not help us. Parents and girls help to set up for events, work for the school's fundraisers, assist with the alumnae events, the senior birthday celebrations, assist teachers with filing, keeping their classrooms tidy and the boards clean and performing various clerical tasks. There is a mandatory brief weekly meeting on Monday afternoon after school during which the girls receive a schedule of possible opportunities for which they can sign up and submit forms for work completed. Parents and students in the PATHS program must attend a meeting at the beginning of the school year and if necessary another meeting in January for the next semester.
Parents are asked and expected to honor their financial obligation to Mount Carmel Academy through the timely payment of tuition and fees. However, when Mount Carmel families experience severe financial situations, parents should contact the finance office who will consult with the President for them as soon as possible to discuss the possible adjustment in scheduled tuition payments. If no alternative arrangement for payment is made and authorized by the President, when a student's tuition account becomes two months in arrears, the student may be subject to suspension from classes. No student may take semester exams until all financial obligations to the school have been satisfied as defined by the President.
